Job Description

Project Description: 

The post holder will be part of a large Horizon Europe-funded research project (3 years) on technologies in mental health. SMILE: Supporting Mental Health in Young People, Integrated Methodology for clinical decisions and evidence-based interventions. The SMILE project will harness emerging digital technologies (Artificial Intelligence - AI and Gamification) to strengthen mental healthcare and promote resilience in young people by increasing their cognitive flexibility, self-regulation and confidence. The post holder will collaborate closely with CIP’s Senior Project Manager and Researcher and the wider consortium, involving 14 interdisciplinary, cross-sectoral universities and research institutions across 9 European Counties. 

 

Responsibilities

The post holder will:

  • Carry out research activities in accordance with the project research plan at all stages
  • Facilitate research activities (clinical trials); recruitment and screening of participant eligibility; obtain informed consent of study participants; monitor and follow-up tasks
  • Compile and manage datasets from the data collected, ensuring the security of the collected data
  • Ensure thorough analysis and judicious interpretation of results and data obtained in research activities. 
  • Assist in the preparation and review of project-related reports, presentations and workshops
  • Attend consortium meetings and training workshops (under the supervision of the Senior Project Manager), offering expertise towards the effective and successful implementation of the project. 
  • Manage communication with ‘Cyprus National Bioethics Committee’ and the ‘Educational Research and Assessment Center (KEEA)’ regarding ‘Smile Application’
  • Ensure the dissemination of research results through the publication of scientific papers and participation in local and international networking and scientific events on the project theme.  
  • The researcher will fully comply with the project’s ethical and data protection protocols by obtaining the informed consent of participants, abiding with the project’s data management plan, and ensuring respect for intellectual property rights and confidentiality agreements with consortium partners and research funders. 

Person Specifications 

  • Researcher Profile: ( R1) Master Degree on Clinical Psychology (R2) First Stage Researcher - PhD Candidate or (R3) Recognised Researcher - PhD holder in an area relevant to mental health or the use of emerging technologies in mental health. 
  • Research interest in mental health, particularly in adolescent and young populations. 
  • Experience with clinical trials, methods, processes and reporting.
  • Knowledge of or experience in HORIZON research projects and/or other EU-funded projects. 
  • Demonstratable ability to lead research activities through the whole life cycle, from design, evaluation, implementation and the successful creation of outputs, including scientific publications and dissemination. 
  • High-level analytical capability.
  • Fluency in relevant models, techniques or methods, proficiency in learning about others and ability to contribute to developing new ones (including quantitative and qualitative methods). 
  • Ability to communicate complex information clearly to diverse audiences and maintain stakeholder engagement.
  • Excellent time management skills and a demonstratable ability to meet tight deadlines. 
  • Willingness and ability to potentially travel for research activities (within Cyprus and EU partner countries)

Additional Qualifications that will be considered an advantage

  • Knowledge of and/or research experience in technologies in mental health. 
  • Peer-reviewed publications in the field of mental health and/or technologies in mental health.
